Large Murano Scavo glass table lamp, called "Medusa’" created circa 1965 by the Italian master glassmaker and designer Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007).

This piece is distinguished by its remarkable mastery of glass, enhanced by the generous proportions of its lampshade, shaped like a broad dome and reminiscent of a jellyfish. The shades of purple and blue lend the piece a soft and subtle colour palette, creating a harmonious composition.

The ‘Scavo’ technique, based on the material’s specific reactions during its transformation, enables these colour variations and unique surface effects to be achieved. This technical mastery, characteristic of Alfredo Barbini’s craftsmanship, lends the glass remarkable depth and richness.

When lit, the lamp reveals its full poetic beauty: the light diffuses through the material and brings out the shimmering hues of the glass inside the dome.
